Propogation of the Faith

Early in the 19th century a French young lady, Pauline Jaricot, was inspired by her brother’s letters from the missions, to start gathering small groups of people from their family-run silk factory. She demanded of each group member, the offering of a daily prayer and a sacrifice of a sou (equivalent to a penny) per week towards the church’s global missionary work.

Pauline’s intention was to spread her efforts throughout all the Catholic communities thus make her version universal, and through her hard work came the Society for the Propagation of Faith. Nowadays this society’s aim is to continue engaging people in prayer and sacrifice for the missions which are active in over 1,1000 diocess in poor areas of the World.  Support is offered for any project through which the word of the Lord is transmitted to the people. Such examples are the financing of Cathecethical work, the building of churches and chapels and also for the education and other needs of religious communities.
